Process of desiccation of monoatomic alcohols of normal (C1-C5) and isomeric (C3-C5) structures by zeolites has been examined. Desiccation degrees estimated by calculacion of the following indices: a dynamic and equilibrium adsorption activities of an adsorbent layer towards water; a length of mass-exchange zone; a degree of utilization of the adsorbent layer and its working time.An influence of nature of the constituent cations of zeolitesаnd temperature factor on the desiccation process has been shown. The two kinds mechanisms of alcohol desiccation presupposed: 1. competing adsorption and 2. molecular-sieving effect.High efficiency of utilization of synthetic zeolittes, especially NaA, in the alcohol desiccation process has been shown. Natural zeolites, such as phillipsite, chabazite and erionite (enriched with cations of sodium and calcium, respectively) are fully competitive to synthetic zeolite NaA.
