RADIOLYTIC DECOMPOSITION OF PAH IN WATER SOLUTIONS INSTITUTE OF RADIATION PROBLEMS OF NASA

The radiolysis of Naphthalene, Fenantrene and benzo-pirilene and its water solutions under γ-radiation has been conducted. The decomposition of the above mentioned PAH and formation of products and the mechanism of radiolytic processes has been studied. It has been established that radiation-chemical yields of decomposition decrease with rising of the number of aromatic nuclear, and all decomposition process are characterized by smaller yields.
