Preprint Policy

Chemical Problems welcomes submissions previously shared as preprints on recognised platforms, including ChemRxiv, Research Square and institutional repositories. A preprint does not, by itself, constitute prior journal publication or prevent consideration.

At submission, authors must disclose all public preprint versions and their persistent identifiers or URLs in the cover letter, together with substantial differences from the submitted manuscript. A preprint DOI is distinct from the journal-assigned article DOI.

Preprinted manuscripts undergo the same editorial assessment, originality checks and peer review as other submissions. Public preprint comments do not replace journal peer review. Work already published in another peer-reviewed journal or simultaneously under consideration elsewhere is not eligible.

Authors must submit an anonymised manuscript and a separate title page. Public preprints may reveal author identities, so complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed. Reviewers should not deliberately seek author identities and must disclose resulting conflicts of interest.

Authors may update preprints before acceptance without disclosing confidential reviewer reports or editorial correspondence. After publication, authors must update the preprint record, where permitted, with the citation and DOI link to the version of record. Sharing accepted manuscripts and publisher-formatted articles remains subject to applicable copyright and licensing terms.
